Emanuel José Araújo da Rocha was born in 1992, beginning his musical studies at the age of 12 with Prof. Ricardo Pereira (solo trombone in Remix Ensemble). In 2008 he joined Artave, in the class of Professor David Silva (first trombone of the Orquestra of Guimaraes/Professor at Esmae), continuing his degree in the class of Professor Severo Martinez (trombone solo of the Symphonic Orchestra of Oporto Home of Music) in Esmae Higher School of Music Arts and Entertainment. In 2010 at the age of 18 he was awarded the 1st Prize in the third national contest Terras de la Sallete, junior category. The following year, he was admitted as a 2nd trombone and later to 1st trombone, at the Fundação Orquestra Estúdio (FOE), European Capital of Culture, in that year resident in Guimarães (Portugal), under the direction of Maestro Rui Massena. In 2013, at 21 years old, Emanuel won the competition of the Academy of Metals of the Symphony Orchestra of Porto Casa da Música and was booked at the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchesters. In 2016 he won the 1st place in the International Contest Terras de la Sallete, senior category, and won the 2nd prize, senior category, in the most prestigious competition in Portugal, Young Musicians Prize. He attended masterclasses with Stefan Schulz, Ian Bousfield, David Bruchez, Andreas Klein, Gyorgy Gyivicsan, Petur Eiricksson, Jamie Williams, Nathan Zgonc, John Eterbeeck, Ximo Vicedo Davó, Francisco Rosario Vegas, among others. He collaborated with the Portuguese Symphonic Band, Galicia Youth Symphony Orchestra, Porto Symphony Orchestra, Gulbenkian Orchestra, Remix Ensemble and Portuguese Symphonic Orchestra. He has had the opportunity to work with several masters such as Lorenzo Viotti, Thomas Hmpson, Ernest Martinez Izquierdo, Jean Marc Burfin, Francesco La Vecchia, Michael Jurowsky, Pedro Neves, Hervé Niquet, Christopher Warren Green, Michel Corboz, Fabien Gabel, and many more. He recorded with the group Mr. SC and Wild Bones Gang, and Massive Brass Attack, under the direction of David Bruchez. In 2018, he spent 3 months as a guest 1st Trombone at the Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra in Mexico. He is currently reinforced in the Portuguese Symphonic Orchestra, in the Extremadura Orchestra (Spain), and works in the Portuguese Philharmonic Orchestra.
