Pedro Sucías Tortosa (Xàtiva, 1991) is a professional musician specialized in tuba. He began his musical studies at the age of 7 at the music school of his hometown band, the Unió Protectora Musical de Vallada. In 2012 he completed his Professional Music Degree in Alzira with Carlos Días Argente, receiving the Final Award in Tuba. In 2016 he obtained his Higher Degree in Music at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Alicante, graduating with Honors, and in 2017 he completed a Master ’ s Degree in Performance and Research at the same institution. His performing career includes several awards: Second Prize at the National Tuba Competition of Villajoyosa (2012 and 2016), Third Prize at the National Young Performers Competition “Arjau ” in Barcelona (2015), First Prize at the “Villa de Castellnovo ” Young Performers Competition (2016), and an Honorary Mention at the Society of Concerts of Alicante (2016). He has refined his studies with leading tubists such as Walter Hilgers, Michael Lind, José Martínez Antón, Juan Palacios, Sergio Finca, Óscar Abella, Vicente López, and Manuel Requena. He has collaborated with major ensembles including the Spanish National Orchestra, the Municipal Band of Barcelona, and the Municipal Band of Bilbao, among others. For four years he was principal tuba of the Film Symphony Orchestra, touring most Spanish cities. He is currently a tuba professor at the “Victoria de los Ángeles ” Professional Conservatory of Music in Madrid and at the International Higher Center of Music of Extremadura. He also gives masterclasses and lectures at different conservatories, focusing on the importance of mental and physical balance for the artist and overall well-being.
